Studio Philosophy

I view myself as an ever-evolving student of life, profoundly grateful for the opportunity to channel my passion for the vocal arts into teaching. My artistry and instruction are direct reflections of the human experience unfolding around me.

My primary objective is to awaken a deep, enduring love for singing within my students. I want to provide them the space to discover the true capabilities of their own voices, building the confidence to realize that the sounds and emotional depths they once thought impossible are entirely within their reach.

I want every singer to leave their lesson creatively energized, driven to practice not out of obligation, but out of a genuine desire to explore their instrument and share their voice with the world.

As an educator, I hold myself to a standard of absolute integrity. I strive to be a mentor whose artistic dedication, vocal discipline, and personal conduct inspire students to elevate their own standards—both on the stage and in their daily lives.

I firmly believe that any student of voice has the capacity for success. In my eyes, musical achievement is not measured by applause, roles won, or accolades received, but by the relentless work ethic one brings to the practice room. The true measure of an artist is their willingness to see the journey through and their courage to discover the absolute peak of their own potential.

The Studio

My role is to equip singers with the physiological understanding, technical tools, and artistic insight necessary to thrive. Ultimately, the greatest triumph of any voice teacher is to guide a student to a place of complete self-reliance, where the teacher is no longer needed—though the relationship often naturally transitions into lifelong mentorship.

I expect singers to show up with a commitment to give their absolute best. I recognize that every artist has their own psychological barriers and thresholds of vulnerability. My expectation is that they courageously push past those boundaries until their desire for vocal freedom outweighs the hesitation holding them back. Consistent attendance, focused practice, artistic curiosity, and a willingness to trust the process are the cornerstones of success in this studio.

Vocal goals are rooted in a balanced, holistic approach. We explore why dramatic expression is vital, how vocal color impacts an audience, and what physical techniques are required to healthily execute a composer’s vision and convey a character’s truth. I hope to cultivate in my students a profound respect for the performing arts and the self-discipline required to continuously surpass their own expectations.

Performance is a vital component of vocal growth. While not every singer arrives with a desire to perform publicly, I highly encourage it and provide a safe environment through informal studio recitals. This exposure is critical to a well-rounded vocal education. Furthermore, while I do not believe competitive singing is a requirement for artistic validity, the rigorous preparation required for auditions and competitions often propels students to extraordinary new heights.

The transformative power of the human voice should not be gatekept. It belongs to anyone possessing the desire, discipline, and willingness to learn the profound art of translating their thoughts and lived experiences into vocal sound.

In managing my studio, I balance a flexible, individualized approach with consistent standards and clear adherence to studio policies.

Teaching & Learning

Vocal proficiency is built on a foundation of healthy, sustainable physical habits. We achieve this through proven vocal pedagogy, integrating targeted vocalises, breath management, diction and language study, sight-reading, and repertoire spanning from classical arias to contemporary works. By securing the physical mechanics of the voice, the singer is freed to express complex musical and dramatic interpretations with clarity and authentic artistry.

To me, the most effective teaching often feels like guided self-discovery. A singer’s instrument is their own body, and profound concepts are best internalized when the student is open, humble, and trusts their teacher enough to explore. Without profound mutual respect, voice lessons devolve into a struggle against tension. With respect, the process feels entirely natural.

I am a mosaic of every artist, director, and teacher I have ever encountered, and I adapt my methodology to the unique physiological and psychological makeup of each singer. It is my responsibility to identify and nurture a student's innate vocal strengths, while giving them the tools to independently conquer their technical challenges.

Studying voice is an incredibly vulnerable act. I believe that the rigorous discipline and deep emotional connection required to sing beautifully naturally fosters a more mentally and emotionally balanced human being.

Building Trust and Relationships

Throughout my career, I have encountered unexpected mentors, intense trials, and profound learning experiences both on and off the stage. I have faced moments that felt like complete failures at the time. Yet, I have come to realize that in art and life, true failure does not exist—it is merely a state of mind and a mislabeling of feedback. You either step into the arena, or you don't. You either learn from the performance, or you don't.

Often, the greatest obstacle to mastering the voice is simply giving oneself permission to learn. To me, success is the courage to transform how you think, how you breathe, and what you believe you are capable of. Success is when an audience hears and feels a positive shift in your expressive truth. It is the ability to release your regrets, trust your artistic instincts, check your ego at the door, and generously share your gifts with others. True success is recognizing that as an artist, you are a vessel for the shared human experience, and only by uplifting others can you truly elevate yourself.
